this is a photoshop shortcut that select all the dark areas inthe image (for the lighter areas use "select inverse")
this is the easiest and more powerfull way to do duotone images.
1) ctrl+alt+~
2) fill the selection with a dark color
3) select inverse
4) fill the selection with a light color
you can use diferent layers for light color and dark color and then
aply some blending effects to this layers (multiply or color work best)
in this way you do not destroy the original color
you can further change the dark and light color with "hue/saturation" (ctrl+u)
